Keynote Accelerated Computing on POWER Platform

Over the last five years, computer industry has made a significant progress in developing a new software and hardware ecosystem around POWER processors with the creation of the OpenPOWER Foundation. During this period, IBM has also invested heavily to develop industry-leading Accelerator interfaces in POWER CPUs to establish POWER as the premier accelerated computing platform today. In this talk, we will start with the OpenPOWER Foundation and then discuss IBM's strategy for advancing Accelerated computing for HPC and AI applications.

Biography

Dr. Sinharoy is an IBM Fellow and currently POWER Platform Chief Architect. His current interest is primarily in the Accelerated computing. In the past, Dr. Sinharoy had been the Chief Architect of IBM's POWER8, POWER7 and POWER5 processors. Dr. Sinharoy has published numerous articles and authored about 200 issued or pending patents in many areas of computer architecture. Dr. Sinharoy also received several IBM corporate awards for his work in different generations of the IBM POWER processors. Dr. Sinharoy is an IBM Master Inventor and an IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Fellow.
